Anyways, I got irked lately cause I'm hearing this rubbish about Valentine's day being a christian celebration and some, SOME religious group (you know, I know, capice?) are condemning it as such. I takes a lot to get me vexed so you know how far thing have gone to shit. This Valentine's-Day-condemning-issue is one part of a whole series of way-too-fantastic bullshit that the powers that be (read Gvt) are feeding to the normal everyday man. Quick quote 'An RTM programme last week, linked V's Day to Christianity and immoral activities. She said "immoral activities, partying and unmarried couples associating in private are traditions of the Christian community"!' What the mushberries??
Really? Are we going down the same path as other race/religion-strained country? Why does everything gotta involve race or religion here? Must we condemn our existence to this? I thought we're better than other countries with our peace and love thing going on. How far have we fallen into the dark well? Jeeze, don't seem to get this kinda problems back home below the wind. That's one of the only place in the world without this kind of problem. Well, maybe a little, but not enough to create a volatile situation. Maybe cause the beer is cheaper?
I know all of you readers would know that this poppycock of a statement is a load of bull, but now you know how the simpleton mind thinks. I don't blame the religion, I blame the individual. Think corny 'bad apples' idioms, but you know what I mean. So as a public service (or me just trying to fill empty spaces), please check this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Valentine
The interesting, and most important thing to look out for is this(to save time):
St. Valentine's Day
Historian Jack Oruch has made the case that the traditions associated with "Valentine's Day", documented in Geoffrey Chaucer's Parliament of Foules and set in the fictional context of an old tradition, had no such tradition before Chaucer. He argues that the speculative explanation of sentimental customs, posing as historical fact, had their origins among 18th-century antiquaries, notably Alban Butler, the author of Butler's Lives of Saints, and have been perpetuated even by respectable modern scholars. In the French 14th-century manuscript illumination from a Vies des Saints, Saint Valentine, bishop of Terni, oversees the construction of his basilica at Terni; there is no suggestion here yet that the bishop was a patron of lovers. Now, the question rest on who St Valentine actually is? That I leave to your curiosity. Hey, nothing is free. Besides, learning is fun! Spread the knowledge people! And don't forget to spread the love too! Love is part of the whole that we need, and we need lots of it. Keep it flowing and glowing all you lovebugs of the earth. You are the hands that holds the universe together. Live and love freely cause no one can take that away from you.
So, until next time my glowworms, Tich tor ang tesmur.
